Why was my Spritz Card declined?

If your payment didn’t go through, don’t worry—this can happen from time to time. Most issues are simple to fix, and we’re here to help you get back on track quickly.

Here are the most common reasons a transaction might be declined:

Charged as debit instead of credit

Spritz Card is a credit card, not a debit card. If you’re ever asked how to run the card, make sure to choose “credit.” Some merchants default to debit, which can cause a decline.

Not enough funds

Double-check that you have enough balance on your Spritz card to cover the full purchase amount. If the balance is too low, the payment won’t go through. Top up your card here.

Certain merchants aren’t supported

Some types of merchants—like casinos, money transfer services, and investment platforms—are restricted by our card issuer for compliance reasons. These include categories like:

  • Wire transfers or money orders (e.g. Western Union, MoneyGram)

  • Financial institutions (e.g. loan payments, funding brokerage accounts)

  • Gambling and lottery services

  • Escort or dating services

These blocks are in place to protect your account and comply with card network rules.

Secure online payments

Spritz Card supports 3D Secure (3DS) for extra safety with online purchases. If you ever see a quick verification screen, just follow the prompts—it’s there to protect your funds.

Does Spritz Card have a PIN?

No—Spritz Card does not come with a PIN, because it’s a credit card, not a debit card.

If a terminal asks for a PIN:

  • Choose credit instead

  • If it still doesn’t go through, try another terminal

🍹 Pro tip: Apple Pay & Google Pay work great

You can add your Spritz Card to Apple Pay or Google Pay and use it for everyday purchases—just like any other credit card.

However, sending money through services like Apple Cash or similar peer-to-peer apps won’t work. These types of transactions fall under restricted categories and are blocked by the card network.
